Just out of interest, what are your opinions on the SFX Series? They never seem to mentioned here and go for pennies second hand. I've got a couple and have really enjoyed using these big chunky cameras.

They are robust, capable, picture-taking machines, which work well in natural light. Much better made than any later camera before the K10D (and perhaps the MZ-S).

they look a bit plastic but as George says they are actually pretty solid. They sell so cheap mainly because they are quite large and ugly compared to most Pentax's and a lot of people don't know what they are/were.

A good choice as a starter SLR for someone on a budget. I had an SFX for a while and was always pleased with the results.

I had a SFXn for a couple of years. It was my first autofocus camera and I really liked it. I seem to remenber that metering was restricted to centre-weighted. I thought that overall it was an excellent camera. I eventually traded it in for a MZ5.
