Gosh I like all of these! - I really like the last one - those metal machine heads against the scrolled wood; and I like the repetition of form in all of them. Finally of course I like the way they have all been processed.

Oooh definitely the first one for me, that's a great shot. The spacing in the second and third isn't regular enough. I like the last one too, for the same reasons as Mat, but perhaps the crop is a little tight.

Violins 1 for me, the gradual focal decay and the intense grain on the first violin work well together, just a great shot.
I also quite like the double base head & scroll shot although IMO the head could have done with a stronger light source creating more defined shadows on the workbench, also I would have preferred the scroll and first machine head to be in focus with the remainder gradually blurring.
That asides they are a great study of the workshop. I will now have to go and grab some of the other half's instruments and have a go.

Thanks all for your comments. It's a good feeling to be able to showcase an artisan's work with photographs.
TI - I should have tried the focus on those closer components as well - quite right.
I don't have any lights, and this luthier's studio is not well lit, so I had to make do with what was there. I actually dragged the double bass closer to a window in order to make this one possible.
The other 'Luthier's Workshop' images series I posted here earlier link suffered a little from the same lighting challenges also.
It was very enjoyable being there though.
