Ses Salinas, Salt Pans

Ooh I was looking at the first one, thinking that's a lovely image but I wish the fence wasn't there, then I saw the last one! That one is great Andrew! Lovely blues, and the salt mounds are certainly not something you see very often. At least it's nice and white, unlike the piles of filthy grey and brown salt we see in Council silos over here!

Ahhh rust and decay! Back to your favourite themes! Really nice set overall. I think I like the doorsteps best... I think. BTW, your sensor needs a clean.

Thanks everyone. Yes, back to type, I'm afraid.
The sensor is FILTHY, Kris.
I'm careful with blower brush and only changing lenses indoors etc. but cloning each picture takes ages. And then I still miss some spots.
I'm scared to death of poking about inside the "film" chamber/ lens throat so I'm keeping the cleaning shaker on all the time. And hoping!
Best wishes,
Andrew

Buy yourself an arctic butterfly. Does the job a treat and you'd have to be even more cack-handed than me (unlikely) to damage anything.

Thanks guys.
Strange, I quite like the flowers and the lead-in of the first one. Sort of gives it context. I supposed one feels differently if one's been there...
Over the weekend in Wales I'm just taking the Hanimex 28mm and nothing else. I need to wean myself off zooms for a while!
Don't forget, Gareth, this was carpet bombing by photography. Over 1200 shots: law of averages says some have to be reasonable! (You ought to see the toe-curling blandness of 1175 of them!)
Best wishes,
Andrew

Great set! I think I like the steps best too (like a few others here). I feel like you, Andrew, when it comes to sensor cleaning and have tended in the past to use the spot healer in post process... That said, with the K-7 the dust removal seems a lot more effective than the mechanism in the K10D and I haven't managed to build up the same layer of crud. Yet.

More good shots Andrew - lovely colours. I don't believe a word about the other 1175 BTW...

OK I'm around this morning waiting for clients to get in touch so I'm biting here.
The first and last shots - can someone analyse why these two shots seem so successful?

Thanks folks.
To be honest, Mike I think it's the unusual colour and contrast. they're not particularly great shots, compositionally. I try to do something interesting with forgrounds and, of course, I always love strong directional light and a complex sky, but these are atypical, in these respects.
Mat, a K7! What a great solution to my dust problems! Since I've just been rather extravagant on the automotive front, I'm not sure the suggestion would go down well with the lady wife!
i-Berg, if you ever visit the Old World and want a quick introduction to the Mediterranean in miniature, I heartily recommend Majorca. I prefer Andalucia but it comes with warts and all and some hideous coastal development. Majorca is sublime.
Best wishes,
Andrew

Suggestion
First shot has the flowers and your eye is led to the fence and then you are hit with the heap of white so sharply contrasting with the sky behind it - it's something with which [ over here] we are not familiar
Last one - again it's the contrast with the heap of salt against the rest - everything is sort of calm but the heap hits you with a bang .
Not technical - just how they strike me
