Second outing with the da*50-135

Ok chaps - i've calmed down now since Monday When my DA*50-135 arrived.

It was another nice sunset tonight, and knew I had to have a quick bash with my new lens, after being so impressed with my Tamron in recent weeks for these type of shots I thought it would be a useful comparison for me.

All I can say is I am not dissapointed! All these were taken at f4 at various focal lengths:

Very nice shots. I particulaly like the second one but would have cropped it a little tighter. well done

Wow the first two shots are stunning, the colours and feeling in the shots is so nice.
The 3th one looks a bit plain compared to the others to be honest.

I think you have lost a bit of the fantastic red sky with that crop, it looks like the atmosphere is on fire, so why loose it

I would be tempted to use a wide format and keep the lovely red clouds, you don't need all that black at the bottom, and is the horizon a bit off ?





Just my 2 cents,

p.s. I think No.1 is the best, looks like a scene from the "Aussie Bush", love the colours, trees are in the right place, not too much ground, clouds are terrific, maybe just crop a bit of the top, to get rid of the excess black, but that's just me.

I like number 3 as well, get rid of some of the black at the bottom, and my 'magic boat' sails off to the right, so the horizon isn't level, but lovely sun and sky.

Right, i've cropped out a section of the black on the first pic:




And i've fixed the horizon on pic 2, and gone with the wide format, which I really really like:

Cheers Peter! Where I work, we have a monthly competition as we have a small group of budding photographers there. This months theme is "The Great Outdoors"; so that first shot is my entry.

I also notice that the fortnight competition #19 theme is "the Sun"...could submit number 2 for that perhaps....
