A fine set that shows the variety of vessels that hang around Poole harbour . For me, the last three stand out as photographs, but the others stand out for showing aspects of what the harbour is all about.
And it's a set that makes me nostalgic for the time when a friend had a little boat and would take me round the harbour. It's interesting to see the ships and boats photographed from land - most of my photographs were taken from a few feet above water level with no chance of re-framing if the shot wasn't quite right!
Because that's where they are based - Hamworthy which is on the edge of the harbour and part of the Poole sprawl. Not that you'd know from the Royal Navy's website. And LennyBloke would probably get shot and this forum closed down if he'd taken a front view of their boats and the DA150-450mm was good enough to show identifiable faces !!

Again, thanks for the comments - I was particularly pleased with the pink dawn image of the MS Barfleur, probably my best ship shot yet
I'm not 100% sure they are SBS Spad - but I see them each year and all my fellow hotel guests and staff believe they are.
Well Steve I did get one shot of them returning to harbour and one of the crew was very clearly identifiable (even though he had sunglasses on), I though it best to preserve my safety by not publishing that image

a. From the water, you can see them embark/disembark from an area that's surrounded by rather impressive coils of barbed wire (or worse).
b. That area is strangely missing from Google Streetview.
a. You sometimes see them wearing green berets.
Of course, it could all be a bluff to distract attention while the real action is elsewhere...

Really like 6 and 8, 8 very much. 6 could be a marketing image.
We have the SFSG here, I have several children from the gents there in my school class, a few very firm handshakes! Note to self, give those kids preferential treatment
