The village idiot finally did it. All on my own. OK with assistance from my new found friend Chrism8. To be honest I am still not sure what I was doing wrong but I am in front of my desk with SD Cards everywhere (that may have had something to do with it). Anyway it is now loaded so I can relax until my next calamity. Thanks to all. Regards John.

Same sort of thing has been said about Kingston cards from various ebay suppliers!

K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Some three years ago. I had 5 faulty Sandisk cards. Which when returned to Sandisk they replaced under their extended warranty scheme. But they refused to replace anymore afterwards, as the cases were getting damaged by the frequent use in my K5ii. Or so they reckon.. Since moving to Integral cards. I've had no such issues and been very happy.. Wont buy Sandisk the so called best cards again...!!

Stub, is the damage because you transfer the cards to the computer to download photos? I have stopped doing this now, preferring to use a cable connection instead and avoid handling the cards.

It could have been Rob as I do prefer to download the images from outside the camera. Thus keeping the camera as safe as possible. Sandisk claimed that the spring system in the K5ii was too strong.. No issues since...!!

I've been using Sandisk since I started out with a K7 in 2010, I put over 100,000 shots on that body in 3 years. Always take the card out and put into a USB3 reader. Never had an issue. Maybe it's because I'm careful when I put them into the reader.

Hanging on my notice board I have a fake Sandisk card bought on e-bay.
Looks the part but the font for some of the printing is wrong.
Fortunately the e-bay seller refunded my money - sadly he had a box of 50 that he in turn had bought on the bay.
I checked carefully because a fellow traveller on the holiday I took just before the purchase had been burned in the same way.

Just as a follow-up on the SD card issue. I have just replaced two of my cards (SanDisk Ultra 80mb/s 32gb) with two new identical new ones, from Amazon, the only difference being the old ones were marked "Made in Taiwan", the new ones are marked "Made in China". Watch this space.

I also have a K7... With a similar amount of images taken in a similar period... !! Maybe Im now just more careful which cards I buy in future...Or just have more cameras...I've been using Sandisk since I started out with a K7 in 2010, I put over 100,000 shots on that body in 3 years. It's hard not to be careful with an SD card isn't it.? I also employ the Sandisk imagemate USB3 reader

I was in the habit until recently of taking the memory card out of the camera and slotting it into the computer to transfer images. I tried the same today but the computer wouldn't load the card and on closer inspection I saw one of the contacts was damaged. Oddly it still works in the camera but I am replacing it anyway. I can only assume the frequent removal/replacement of the card has caused this, so I will stick to just using a cable connection from now on.
