scratch?

Recently, the lighter images I have been taking with my kit 18-55 lens all have this mark:



I've checked with other lenses, and it's definitely not the sensor or mirror (this time!), and I have cleaned and cleaned and see nothing.

Any suggestions?

It could be a hair!(thats what it looks like anyway)..............It must be on the sensor I'm afraid, as a hair wouldn't show up on the lens........Ken

Try a shot of the sky @f22 and see what shows up

Theres a another similar mark to the right, approx. level with the top of the red outline.

Have a really good look at the sensor in good light, use a magnifying glass if you have one to hand, I think I'm correct in saying that whatever is causing those marks will be in the top left hand portion of the sensor due to the way the lens forms the image.

I'll check out the sensor later, as suggested. But why doesn't the mark show when I use another lens?

It will depend on the f number!...it probably wont show up under f11,,as I say try them at f22 and it will show up on all your lenses........Ken

I agree with beginner. I had a hair on my sensor for a while, thinking it would fall off I left it. But it did not move, probably held by static. I managed to shift it with the assistance of a rocket blower.
