The mono ones work very well for me Andrew. I really like your central composition for a lot of these shots. You have squared them up perfectly instead of trying to stick to "rules" and making them look a bit generic. Its nice to see. Nice tones, lovely exposure and I would be happy with these in my porfolio. Excellent stuff

What really helped was using just the one fixed focal length lens, although at times I wanted to squeeze a little more in, this is one of my faults: I'm always trying to include instead of exclude things from images. That old lens was also remarkably distortion free, only if the camera was tilted to any great extent was there any skew correction needed in photoshop.

I was blessed with excellent consistent light streaming through those high windows. The light meter (remember those) so awakward to juggle with out of doors, seemed easy to use with time on my side and the camera bolted to a tripod.
