Oh I actually quite like the last one, the way the light catches it and the play with DOF in the first one is very pleasant.
The second one is less because you crop off a flower and everything is boring sharp.

Tim, the DOF and colours make no. 1 an exceptional shot!

Love the first one: very clever the way you use depth of field. Strange macro isn't it: you're never quite sure what you're going to get!

Thanks guys

PS These were all with the Tamron 17-50, and that red leaf in the first shot is about 6 inches wide.

Tim I love it, don't pay for these things and photograph them at home, just go to a garden centre and do it on the free

The garden centre is certainly a good destination, partly because their plants are in such great condition and there's no wind! However when you have a toddler it enters a whole new dimension - the garden centre becomes a day out!!! You can spend hours looking at the flowers, fish, rabbits, parrots, and even have lunch in the restaurant! I've yet to try a full-on meal at the restuarant, it seems a bit weird to go to a garden centre for lunch, but apparently it's very good. I've even seen queues to get into it!

Even weirder than going to a furniture shop for meatballs?

When we go to Jersey to stay with my sister , some of the nicest food we have is at garden centres - they take their cuisine very seriously.

As for meatballs - well my missus bought our last two-piece suite from a garden centre, and the local one has a delicatessen shop as well.

Lovely flower and good shot Tony!

Come to think of it I've had the meatballs a few times and they aren't half bad. Maybe I'll try the garden centre

This wouldn't happen to be a garden centre in Great Amwell would it?

Anyway, looks like they need to sell food because you aren't buying their flowers!

It's the Scotsdales in Great Shelford about 10 minutes south of Cambridge.

I don't buy flowers, I'm much too manly for that No seriously, the garden is my wife's, I'm not allowed to touch anything out there!
