Was watching a video earlier of Alex from Photigy talking about his modifiers etc and he mentioned a company called Savage plastic he uses for using as a backdrop / base as well as using for strobe scrims, large diffusing panels etc. Here's a link to the product but more importantly a good video as well of Mark from Adorama using it 3 different ways for portraits

May have to get a roll of this to try out. There are cheaper brands / sizes on eBay - search diffusing gel

Yes. It IS slowly strangling our world! But this thread seems to be about backdrops - not economics or ecology.
Perhaps you could start a valid thread about photography, plastic and pollution?
