Sara's Window

Durham Cathedral's most recent glass artwork is a huge memorial window to the memory of student Sara Pilkington who died suddenly in her final year at Durham in 2012 aged just 21. Her family commissioned glass artist Mel Howse to create the window which they asked should be beautiful, uplifting, spiritual and celebratory. They invite visitors to the cathedral to interpret the work in their own way

It looks beautiful and the artist has fulfilled her brief IMO.
(The whole window has a hint of Escher to my eye!)

Thanks Peter, Mike and Andy. Durham Cathedral authorities have recently lifted their ban on photography, apart from when they used to allow it at after-hours sessions ands charged 10 per camera. So far they haven't set a charge under the new system although many cathedrals in other parts of the country do so to raise funds towards the enormous upkeep of these historical buildings.

The glass artwork is quite interesting, the colours at the top being particularly grand. Great framing on your part in #2, the deep contrast renders beautifully.
