Other differences I can recall are the menus and the body shape so that if you need a grip you need a Samsung one as the D-BG2 doesn't fit.

Despite this the GX-20 is as good as the K20D - if you can live with the Samsung badge

Did you not have to modify your grip Gareth?

I have the Pentax grip but never tried it on my GX20, just assumed it wouldn't fit! Will try it tonight!

I believed they required a little bit of gentle modding to make them fit.

It will fit and work OK and can be made a snugger fit by filing off some of the plastic lip that moulds round the Pentax body, but is a bit in the way on the Samsung. The only problem if you do that is that the resale value as a Pentax grip plummets.

Better to try and get the proper Samsung one. Should be some available SH because I understand they can't repair the Samsung cameras any longer. Absolute disgrace if that's true I remember Nikon saying a few years ago when they discontinued a camera that they would be supplying spares for at least another 10 years. Think twice about buying anymore Samsung stuff.

I would have thought an independent repairer would have no problem using Pentax parts to repair a Samsung, apart of course from parts that are cosmetically different.
Best regards, John

I'm only going off what I've read on this and other forums. There were a few people who got refunds or an alternative Samsung Camera because theirs couldn't be repaired due to lack of parts. The daft thing is that some are still/were under a 2 year guarantee and are not repairable. I expect others probably took out 5 year extended guarantees from the likes of Curry's.

One user who had a problem was called orange???? from Cardiff.

I think you mean OrganicImagery, although OrganicOrangery has a nice ring to it

He was offered an NX10 in place of his broken GX20. Stupid Samsung, it's hardly like-for-like.

That's him Tim. I think the camera was still within
the guarantee period. I'm sure there was someone
else on here as well.

My story on the grip is a bit convoluted, but here we go! Had K10D plus grip - loved it. Got GX20 from Jacobs crazy sale and sold K10D with grip. Got (rare) Samsung grip, but HATED it!!! Why? The Pentax grip was rock solid, so in portrait mode there was no movement in the grip/camera connection. Not so the Samsung. Because of the different design, the grip didn't have any "lips" in various places and, no matter how much I tightened, there was always a small amount of movement holding portrait. (If I had never had the K10 then this might not have bothered me, but I knew it could be better.) So I sold the Samsung grip.

Then I saw on da Bay a Chinese Pentax grip, which I got for 30. I then cut and filed as appropriate and, hey presto! a grip for 30 that does the job and is as tight as a tight thing that has been put on extra tight duty! (And only close inspection reveals it is not quite right...)

You should be able to download the manual. Try Samsung first and then Google.

At least the NX10 is APS-C though (upgraded K20D/GX20 sensor in fact)

Couldnt get my GX 20 repaired John by the repair company who Samsung used the explanation given was the part needed was out of stock and discontinued.Probably if I had bought the Pentax K 20 it would now be repaired and I would still have a nice camera.
