Samsung GX10 cracked LCD - repair?

Some clumsy oaf (cough) plunged his big size 10 on top of my camera bag containing my Samsung GX10. Luckily, the only damage is a large crack all across the LCD screen on the back. I'm guessing that there is a plastic cover in front of the LCD screen istelf, because the LCD seems to be working perfectly... just with a big crack in front of it. I was planning to sell my GX10 on soon and upgrade, which is the most annoying thing. Does anyone here have any experience reparining GX10s? Could this be an easy fix? They only pick up about £300 on ebay now, so I don't really want to spend a lot getting it "properly" repaired.

Insurance would seem your best option and if you don't have specific camera insurance then perhaps check out your household contents policy.

All Risks insurance may well have you covered?

Yes it's most likely the plastic cover like you said, if they can replace that without opening the camera it shouldn't cost that much, although you never know

Replacement back covers shouldn't be too expensive (IIRC, I picked up a new one for the *ist-D for around £6), but replacing it may be tricky... it might just be bonded to the back with some thin double-sided sticky.

You might try phoning Asahi Photo - I have found them exceptionally helpful
