SAAB Museum, Trollhättan, Sweden

During a recent road trip to the Arctic Circle we stopped and spent few hours at the SAAB museum in Sweden. Although I wasn't that interested in SAAB cars beforehand I found the place fascinating and thoroughly enjoyed it.

There was combination of natural and artificial light as well as big differences in space around the cars.

I though I would share a few images to see if you think I could have done anything different. All taken with a K5ii(s) and DA* 16-50 using available light only.

The Aero X concept car:

The first two are multi-exposure shots combined in photomatrix. I then sharpened them slightly and added a vigneting effect, in PSE 10, to try and 'lose' the background a bit. Both ISO 800.

all of these have a slight amount of sharpening and shadow/highlight tweaking with LR4.

I could have stayed here all day trying to get just the right angle with just the right lighting. I found the reflections and cramped space difficult to work with. I would welcome any comments on how to do it better should I ever end up in a similar situation.

How long were you in THN? Did you see the waterfalls? and the canal locks?

It's been a long time since I've been to the Bilsmuseum in Innovatum, and wanted to visit the factory before everything stopped. The black one UrSaab - Project 92001 - was the very first Saab while the white 9-3 DJA 880 was the last made...

Thankfully, new cars are being made.

We were only there for a couple of hours and my admiration for SAABs has now gone through the roof.

Love the shots of the X Aero what a gorgeous car never seen that before! I work with cars and have just been reminded i have some shots of something special that i will put up for discussion i could do with some advice on shooting cars The museum and the shots are great.

Great set from Trollhättan! I hope to travel there myself sometime in the future.

What a pity Saab went bankrupt. But at least they made an impact on the car industry for half a century, and the great cars will still be around in the years to come. Well, as a Saab 9-5 owner, I have become a vintage car owner now, that cannot be all bad

Apologies if the following is somewhat off topic but I can't resist reminiscing about a visit to Trollhättan way back about 30 or more years ago and being very interested in the SAAB factory, and intrigued also to hear that the unusually shaped hill on the far side of the factory was so like the sort of hat believed to be commonly worn by the local Trolls, that the local folk called the town after it: hättan being the diminutive form of hatt (the Swedish for hat), so the town's name means "Troll hatlet"
I had a Spotmatic with me and took photos of the place and the hill, but have long since lost them

Yes it is an awesome looking machine from just about any angle. There were several concepts and preproduction models there which really showed that SAAB could produce really nice vehicles.

I found it fascinating how they had managed to maintain a strong 'family' resemblance from the earliest model to the very latest concepts. A very underrated car manufacturer.
