The Pentax 55-300mm lenses are more affordable than the 150-450mm and are also excellent performers. A zoom will give more versatility than a prime. At a mid-point price-wise is the lovely 60-250mm.
Best regards, John

Sigma 50-500mm? In stock at SRS Microsystems new for £849 or otherwise you are looking at secondhand options. The Sigma 150-500mm is no longer produced but should be inexpensive if you can get one, it is an excellent lens.

A converter on these lenses would make them too slow for sport photography, especially with a K10D limited ISO range.

Looking for some advice on lenses for the above.
Unfortunately up to 200mm isn't getting me close enough to the action for individual shots, particularly with the rowing where often only able to take full boat shots rather than close in or individual crew members. Any advice and or contrasting views on prime versus large zooms would be very gratefully received as well as specific lens recommendations. Whilst I look longingly at the Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 150-450mm and various DA* 's the cost is somewhat daunting without further advice.
Mainly for use paired with a K10d.
Hope you can help,
Thx.
