Rose

This simple shot came around mainly because I love black backgrounds. Our car is black metallic paint, so just placed the rose on the bonnet. The sky was a lovely deep blue and this has tones the image a sort of grey blue, to my eyes anyway. Not sure about it myself, does it look slightly over precessed to you?

Very simple (but effective) composition, bold colours and nice and sharp. Very little not to like!

To answer your question, I don't believe it does look over-processed.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

It looks great to me, agree with Robbies comments. However, I think it looks nicer the other way up!

I agree too - not over-processed to my mind. Great idea of using the car bonnet as a background. I would have a go on mine if it wasn't so filthy...

Nice shot though - like it very much

Very interesting to see such strong black shadows. It's kind of surreal. Very different from other flower shots. Don't the two colours work well together?

I would not deliberately allow any foliage to touch my bonnet. Particularly barbed varieties!!!
Best wishes,

Andrew

Would look great as a greeting card. However, I would have preferred the stem to start lower left, with the rose upper right
Best regards

Sorry Stephen but I'm not keen on the shadows,(at all) Maybe the light was too strong?
Other than that I think its a good image and a good idea and I dont mind it either way up.

They are relections.

Good concept (as usual) S-C, and well shot too. I'm also wondering what it would look like rotated 180 deg? It's attractive as it is, mind.

Thanks again for all the advice fellas, yes they are reflections and the light was very strong, taken around 3pm not the best time of day. Didnt tell the GF, its her car, no damage done to paintwork though.

Well that will teach me not to judge images on my laptop

Stephen: I'll give your pic another look tomorrow night when I can see it in all its glory on a decent screen

Well as promised I'm now viewing the pic on a proper monitor (yes I have a great holiday thank you very much) but I still think what I thought was the shadow that is actually a reflection.....is still a tad too dark

Though I have to admit it looks 100 times better on my PC's monitor than on the laptop, I still think its a good idea and well worth persuing with another go, perhaps on a different colour, I have a silver car so if you fancy coming over and polishing it up you can shoot as many roses on it as you like

I think it's fantastic, it would look great as a poster.
