Looks like a wonderful place. Interesting to see it at two very different times of the year. I'm not sure the second one is quite as sharp as it could be, but my monitor and eyesight are not always to be trusted.
Best wishes,
Andrew

I was , as you realise struggling with that organ gallery . I don't know if it's carved or painted wood . I couldn't get near enough to find out - here's the rest of that set . The Church was pretty dark and I'm surprised at the quality of the shots I did get - they are all at ISO 1600 and hand held - no tripod went with me - no room .

Gareth - point taken re the 'snap shot' - yes it was, and is in a set of pics going to the folk who were with me , many of them will never be able to go back - so they need memories to hold on to .
The shots of the organ were for me - it's completely fascinating . I've a feeling it's painted wood when you see the last pic above.
It needs a far better photographer than me to do the church justice - and whether I'll get back to it is a very different question - I don't fancy the long drive down to the Pyrenees doing it alone

Hi techno-terminator,
I have seen that type of painted wood organ before, its was in the UK somewhere, I agree they are fascinating objects.
The one in the UK was not as ornate as this one, if or when I remember where it is I will PM you.
Regards

Hi Techno, it looks like a fascinating abbey both internally and externally.
I know how frustrating it is to want to capture the interiors of such places. I went to Serrabonne on holiday, and it was tough getting any photos that were even half way to being keepers, what with the poor light, the tripod ban and all the other people there.
I'm sure all those on the trip with you will be delighted with your photos to give them lasting memories of a special journey.
It is always frustrating when these fascinating places are so far away, and you long to have another go at them. I know I look at my photos and often think if only I'd done this, or tried that. All part of the learning curve of course.
Maybe you will go back to Lourdes and will get another chance. If not maybe Colin will remember the church he has seen in the UK and you can visit that. I'm curious where it is too.
