Road map and 1.4x converter
When they release it,I can see it being one of the fastest sellers during the first 12 months and Ricoh being unable to fulfil the market demand.

Until pentax bring out a 300 2.8 or 400 2.8 a tele will be wasted I feel.

I currently use a "manual" Pentax 2xS with mine and get some excellent results.
A 1.4 would also only make a 420mm f/5.6 lens this length and speed is virtually already covered by Sigma and has HSM and would probably have better IQ too.

What current Pentax AF 1.4x converter can I use matched to my DA* 300mm with minimal loss of IQ and AF speed then please, as per Canon, Nikon?

through. Pentax can't improve on that with a new one.
Optically the Tamrons/Teleplus TC's are quite good. Unlikely that
Pentax can do much better than that with a new one.
It is after all just a magnifier
They may be able to tweak the AF in the camera to work better
with a TC including tweaking the SDM...... but you haven't
asked for that. Something to moan about later if they ever
release a TC.
The Pentax 1.7x adapter works well with the DA*300mm and there's
was one for sale here last week for a very low price.
I prefer to use the 55-300mm or Sigma 150-500mm with the
Jessop 1.7x TC.

A Pentax AF 1.4 converter would be an excellent addition to the Pentax line up. In terms of IQ I still believe that the A series 1.4 is better than any other 1.4 or 1.5 converter, an updated af (with sdm capability too) Pentax model with even better coatings would be welcomed by me and I suspect many others

Nor was I ! Not sure what I said to provoke the vitreol Algi
Any way I have the Kenko 1.5x and it is pitifully slow although optically reasonable on the DA* 300. I have tried the 1.7x Pentax and it was temperamental and slower still. I have used the Kenko with both the 55-300 and the 150-500 and the IQ was inferior to just cropping, in bird photography at least. So why have I read loads of threads about these being the only ones with AF if Pentax have these other ones already and why would they put another one on the road map?
I presume from your comments that you are saying the AF is slow with the camera and the lens and will be even worse with the TC. What I am saying is that isn't the case with a Canon or Nikon equivalent set up and I was hoping Pentax could find away of matching it? There's a difference between hoping and moaning.
