As I said in the Pointless thread:

Quote:
Indeed. He was a lovely eccentric.
My husband met him once when he visited the Lab where we worked prior to a satellite launch. Unlike most of the TV people who presented bits from there (Tomorrow's World springs to mind) Sir Patrick was knowledgeable and interested and asked intelligent questions. For the rest it was just a presenting job really
I'm glad he was able to die at home surrounded by those he loved, including Ptolemy the cat. Great name for a cat btw.

One less star in the sky at night.
Sad to think we will see him no more.

Patrick was an absolute legend. His enthusiasm was infectious - I would put him in the same camp as Attenborough and Dawkins. RIP, sir!

A true character, very eccentric, very English. His contribution and legacy is immense. Noone popularised science as he did.

Very sad news, as others have said his enthusiasm was infectious and inspired many. Father Christmas is bringing a telescope for my 9 year old. His interest comes largely from watching Sir Patrick.
