hmmmm I may have stirred up a hornets nest here
I was not referring to any allegations against him, and that is what they are, as far as I know they were never proven. If they are true, then we all know where he is now.
I liked his music and his videos, as an entertainer he was incredible and likely we will never see his like again.
Lets not turn this thread into a Michael Jackson roast please. I will ask John to remove it if it offends.

Whilst his music never did anything for me it is always a tragedy when someone dies at such a relatively young age.
I do not however understand the mass outpourings of grief for him, any more than I did when Princess Diana died. How can you grieve so for someone you never personally knew? A feeling of sadness at his passing yes, but such grief is incomprehensible to me.
It is his children I feel most sorry for. The infighting over who gets custody has already begun. Two can go back to their mother, but the third and youngest one?
I just hope they don't end up with their grandparents to be turned into performing monkeys like their father was.
Can we also remember Farrah Fawcett in this post too. She may not have been the greatest actor but she did have some very good roles and her passing has been eclipsed somewhat by MJ.

A post was inappropriate has been removed, as have the replies to it which no longer made sense.
As a matter of respect, all the off topic relpies in this thread will also be removed.

A real tragedy to lose a genius and innovator who brought so much pleasure to so many people for forty years.
I'm reminded of the story of a friend who photgraphed him many years ago. MJ admired my friend's Harris Tweed jacket and the photographer told him he could keep it if he would be photographed wearing it. The portraits were very telling of a 'boy' wearing a a very large man's jacket.
Gwynn, here's Farah Fawcett by the same photographer link go to portraits and #7, there is also a different one of MJ in there too. At the risk of going off topic, my favourite has to be the one of Roman Polanski buried up to his neck as the tide comes in.

I've always admired your friends work, Gartmore.
as for MJ... There is the talent, the hard work and the antics with the media that propelled him to the top and gain him publicity.
He earned his title as the King of Pop. undeniably.
In one sense stars are somewhat public property, in the sense that they owe thier wealth and fame to the people that pay for the tickets to the show, the music, the magazines etc... and as such, even the allegations that dogged him, are fair game, both in life and in death.
It is never polite to speak ill of the dead.
But I wouldn't censor anybody for making comment on such a public figure.
But I accept your desire to keep this thread civil.
And leave it by saying the show won't be over for long time to come.

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Although never a real fan, I feel sad. I always feel sad whenever the young MJ came on TV, either with the Jackson 5 or his early solo career... he crossed all sorts of boundaries... black/white, soul/rock, etc... incredible talent and what a charming sweet guy he seemed to be. It's a double tragedy, the way his private life and career subsequently developed, and his untimely death, which robbed him of a chance to redeem himself.

He may have been a little weird at times but you can't say he didn't change the music world for the better.
RIP
