Imho I think his nose from the tip of his nose under his eye as far as his ear needs just a tad more light, it maybe just a reflector needs to be added, worth a look ?

I will try with a bit more fill power for the umbrella which will light his facing profile a bit more and a reflector for the back.

I prefer those from the first set, lighting-wise. This one seems a bit harsh, comparatively. Just personal preference, of course!

Well i had another attempt at profile lighting. i tried increasing the fill light but it wasn't working for me. So i went the other way and reduced the fill light right down and got what I was after. A more dramatic profile picture, with the side of his nose almost completely in shadow.

That’s a very striking portrait Peter... I’m not an expert in this field by any means, but I do like the half silhouette in this one, and how the light is just catching his right eye...

I used a reflector lamp facing him at the 2 o'clock position. A weak umbrella at 4 o'clock position as fill, and a snoot high up at the 10 o'clock position as a hair light.
i am thinking he may need a bit more illumination on his back ....possibly a reflector ?
Just practicing and would appreciate any comments.
ps. yes his hair needs a brush !
