Probably a wise decision! A great old flash-gun. I never had one of those but a later model (Metz 40) where you could purchase a separate hand-grip for extra batteries. Served me well until it died - ie not as reliable as the old 45s! I have an old vivitar 285 (a classic). Thankfully its voltage is very low and so safe straight off

The Metz 45 series was the pinnacle of hammerhead flash back in film days, very few manufacturers could match the power or design - I used the basic 45 CT-1 on many a wedding with the bounce board to diffuse the flash. Good to see you're still getting use out of a good old flash

According to the UK distributer of Metz the trigger voltage is 15v, the safe voltage for Pentax DSLRs is 25v.
Instead of hunting round for leads and adaptors! I have successfully used a pair of Yongnuo RF603CII wireless
triggers.
I know the Metz is cumbersome and heavy compared to smaller and modern Metz flash units, but the ‘45 is a great flash gun
Outcome, use of a trusted flash unit and no ‘fried’ KP
