I have just obtained a Pentax right angle viewer that I presumed was the Ref-converter A. All though clearly marked Pentax it does not fit onto Pentax bodies. It does not have the switch between one or two diopter adjustment but rather the viewpiece turns to adjust.
I am guessing that this was maade for a different camera body but cannot find any reference to it. Can anyone enlighten me, please?

They should have sent you a small adaptor to fit onto the Pentax eyepiece.
When I bought mine they included a whole set for all camera makes

.....the rotating viewpiece is the focussing.
Mine has the two diopter switch but to be honest I hardly ever use it as it's not that good

Sounds like the Spotmatic one. The eyepiece on M series and
onwards cameras is about 2mm bigger so it won't fit. You
will have to sell it and get a Refconverter M or A both work
on digital cameras and are well worth the money. The optical
quality is superb and 2x really helps with focusing.

I had the same experience with a magnifier and sold it (this time clearly stated as for K or earlier bodies. I believe if you have the right skills and tools you could cut down the clips on each side to fit a newer body.

Ones that are made for the newer bodies are much harder to find (maybe because they're sold less due to being more useful).

Thanks for the info. I was disapointed that it would not fit. Optically, it is brilliant.
I did have the A version but could not get on with it and sold it, but this one looks to be optically better, maybe it is just me.
This one is in mint condition complete with case and, perhaps, could be for a collector.
What would the asking price be? can I ask.

I sold mine for about 20 quid posted and have seen a couple of others at the same price.
