Ricoh GR Portrait work

Posted 20/10/2024 - 18:17 Link
I have completely forgotten about the Ricoh GRii and the images I have taken with it. I didnt get off to a great start with this camera. I dropped it just a week after I bought it last July and then in December of last year I closed my car door on it when it was nestled inside my long winter coat.

The Q was my usual daily carry but I am without one at the moment. When you shoot Q the as much as i did the GR feels and weigh like a Pentax 67

anyways some work with the Grii from the last few months *some shots with the Q20 flash off camera

Loving these.... especially No5!!

But if I may make a sugestion.... The white border on the first one makes it very stark to my eyes. Maybe a darker or no border will give it more impact?

Thank you Ian

The white border is what i use to make sure instagram doesnt crop in and reduce the image - i just forgot to export one at 100-%

Not very enamoured with No.4 due to the smoke masking about a third of her face but love the rest of them...really good and impactful.

I actually like the very wide border around the first one...sorry Ian...

Some great compositions and the camera seems to suit the subject matter.

Another striking set of portraits from you Alistair, and good to see you back here.

I do like the artwork on no 7. - great idea to bring this into the frame.

Getting older and grumpier. Taking longer to decide which lens to use today.

I simply haven't got the bottle to do this - you have and the results are amazing.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

I haven't got the bottle or the vision to produce portraits anywhere near as good as this.

Just such an enjoyable and varied set - keep em coming

Excellent set, I'd be really pleased if I'd taken any one of those, all set on great backgrounds too

Some great work here imho.
Just curious, do you know these people or is it street photography or do they come from rent-a-person?
