Oh yeah! Well, then I am confused. Within the instructions which came with the adapter (Uniross AD10170 it states as follows:

The adapter is designed to ensure a power supply from a 230V AC source for appliances requiring a maximum DC power output of 2500 mAh and a voltage rating of 3V, 4.5V, 5V, 6V, 6.5V or 7V.

Anyway, I gather it's safe to use to power the ist D..

There appears to be confusion over milliamp hours (from batteries) and milliamps (from mains power units). Obviously an 'hour' rating on the latter is superfluous - until we go entirely green and the winds stops blowing anyway.

The main thing to prevent damage to the *ist-D is this: get the voltage right.

To prevent overloading the supply, get one that can supply enough current (ie mA - milli-Amps)

If the supply is under-spec'd (in terms of current) it will get warm and may trip out or pop off

Oh yes, and the power supply input of any device (e.g. the *ist-D) may well have extra electronics that require a higher voltage than that supplied by batteries, and possibly slightly higher current.

For the price of a plug and a little bit of work, I now have a 3m cable release with a locking switch for long exposures, so I dont have to hold the button down for 5mins or so.
Pressing the focus button appears to be the same as pressing the shutter release half way. Cool

Thanks for the connection details, Matt. Hav modified my cable release for the Z1-P so that it can now be connectd to either the Z1-p or the *istD!
