Recommended sites for beginners

Hi,

Photography is full of terms, technology, and techniques that it is hard to understand for someone who is just beginning to exploring it. If we could help them a bit with sites that clearly explain the basics for them, they would be able to make an flying start and it would be easier for us to explain some things if they have the basic knowledge and know the language.

The idea is to make a short list of the best sites out there, a big list wouldn’t be helpful.
The sites can go over everything you think would be helpfull if they should know so maybe things like, the basics about lenses (Aperture, focal length, etc.), camera basics, composition, photoshoping, etc.
Please recommend me some sites, I would go through to them and pick the best one out there.
If you don’t agree with my choice please say so because we all should be happy about it.

About basicly everything from taking your first photo, digital camera, lenses, photoshoping and terms are explained
- Roie Galitz - all the basics you should know is explained here clearly, plus some extras.
- cambridge in colour - explains almost everything about the technology behind the modren camera.
- explain that stuff - a site with links to more sites, they are really helpfull give it a go if you want to know something.

Digital Post-processing
Make your photo special with effects or enhance your photo to make it more natural
- Photoshop Cafe - Good site with simple instruction for some nice effects, if you want to be creative but not over the top this a good site.
- Russell Brown - A much more advance site then the first one, not so for the beginners I believe but there are certainly interesting.
- the digital photography connection - Good site for beginners that use video's to explain things. Most of the things discused are quite natural, just to make your photo look better.
- pixel perfect - Explains some easy to do effects you can do with photoshop and there are some things for lightroom in there as well.
- Flickr: HDR - how to make one and why - Good site to start when wanting to make your first HDR, Links to some good tutorials, links to software and some good examples on how it should be done.
