Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Lens??
Siggy Blurb: -
This large aperture telephoto zoom lens, incorporating Sigma's original Optical Stabiliser function, covers focal lengths from 70mm to 200mm and offers a constant aperture of F2.8 over the entire zoom range. The OS function offers the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than would otherwise be possible. It makes shooting easy for many types of photography such as portraits and sports. Two FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have performance equal to fluorite glass, and three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements provide excellent correction of colour aberration. The lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), ensuring a quiet and high speed AF as well as full-time manual focus capability.
Seems to be around the £900 mark

I have one and it's great. They do come up quite often 2nd hand and you'll get a good one (non OS) for around £500 ... I did . First thing to do when you get it is check BF / FF which is probably right for all lenses though.

Tamron SP 80-200 f/2.8 Adaptall 2, model 30A?

Tamron SP 80-200mm F/2.8 LD Model 30A: This is an absolutely superb optical design which features a three element focus group incorporating one low dispersion (LD) element, plus a five element variator group coupled with a three element compensator group. Resolution and contrast, compared to similar OEM lenses, is excellent to say the least. Quite possibly this lens is the ideal portrait lens due to its flexibility in combination to its inherent sharpness and contrast. Professional photographers know that lenses of around 80mm to 100mm focal length produce portraits which feature visual distortion that closely mimics the human eye. On the other hand, taking portraits at around 150mm to 200mm places the photographer further away from the subject. This is beneficial since the subject feels less "crowded" and is likely to be more relaxed and spontaneous.
Overall, this lens is very slightly soft in the corners at F/2.8 due to extremely slight off-axis astigmatism and coma. Chromatic aberration and lateral color are extremely slight as well. Corner sharpness equals center sharpness by F/4, producing very sharp images across the entire film plane. Sharpness peaks at F/8 with images which are razor sharp and the equal of all but the very best moderate to medium telephoto prime lenses. Always use this lens with its included lens shade to minimize internal reflections and prevent flare. Performance is exceptional compared to similar after market lenses, and is comparable to the best of the similar OEM lenses such as the 80-200 F/2.8 Nikkor.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Just been reading some reviews on this lens, sounds like it's just what I am looking for....though would have preferred a zoom lens starting with a slightly shorter focal length.womble wrote:

I actually have one of thse I was thinking of selling.Tamron SP 80-200 f/2.8 Adaptall 2, model 30A?
Do you want to make me an offer I can't refuse, Mike?
Also, would it come with a PK/A adaptor?

I do have a PK/A adapter, I just thought of having one on each lens, though I can swap them round. I hardly use the 90mm, anyway, there's no bugs, plants or much else in the macro world here, save what's in our small garden. The ide of using the converter is very attractive, I would probably sell my Tokina 80-400 if I bought the Tamron. Any ideas about price (assuming you want to sell)?
