Samyang do a good fisheye although no autofocus, it gives excellent results. LINKY

As it is just for a tryout why don't you get one of the attachments that are advertised in practical photography--Digital photo etc.etc. They give fisheye and with the front lens screwed off then onto your lens they also give magnification. I had one when I started and they aren't bad for the price although obviously not as good as the real thing. You and your wife could have some fun for not too much layout.

I don't understand this common attitude to fish eyes. I use my DA10-17 all the time. Fantastic lens, great quality and not every shot is obviously 'fisheye'The missus went on an excellent photo course given by Nigel goldsmith at the University in Bath, and now the 'bug's bit' wants to experiment.
To this end, she's keen on a fisheye lens. I will admit to being a bit less enthusiastic, but I'd be happy to indulge her if I could find a decent lens at a sensible price - I've seen a few short primes going for near enough £500 which is well outside budget.

CoDa has hit the nail on the head. Not that expensive and a good way of trying out if your ever loving REALLY likes fish eye. I won't bother looking now as it's been done.

I've a couple of the adapters and they're not too bad, but a very long way short of the DA10-17, as Smeggy says it doesn't always give the fisheye look.
Second hand trade in the 10=-17 is always good, so if you don't like it you can recoop most of your cash, & pass it on for someone else to try.
The adapters do have one advantage though - you can mount a filter between the lens & the adapter - which is the one reason why I'm keeping mine. (Fisheye infra red...)

Although it's not the same, some PP software has the option to create fisheye effects.

The 10-17 is one Pentax's best thought out designs IMO.

Possibly my monitor was a bit bright, but it has been in the gallery for over a year and may have faded it a bit.

In terms of mindset, I'm not a huge fan of the perspective, and certainly not enough to spend two to three hundred pounds on it.
