recommendations?

I'm looking for a pocket compact, preferably 8meg or more with plenty of manual control. I'd like to keep it below £150. I've seen other such threads further down the board but they are quite old, and there seem to be so many to choose from in the pentax family.

Not that this will probably help much, but I have had an optio 550 virtually since it was launched and I have been delighted with it, and have taken so many photos with it. I have recently bought a K10 but the little optio still goes everywhere with me, just in case. If its successors are as good, then you wont be able to find fault with it. Sorry it is a bit of an old model, but still brilliant all the same!

The A30 would be nearest to fiting the bill. The user reviews of DPReview are reasonably good.

However manaul control is still very limited. None of the current batch of Pentax compacts offers that (the last to offer it appears to be the Optio 60 back in 05)

The A30 is a bit 'old' now (launched a year ago) but that means you might get good deals on it - Amazon are selling it for £130

But to be honest I'm not sure I would buy a Pentax compact now - despite owning a W20 (which produces images Ok for snapshots but even A4 is pushing it in terms of enlargements). The Fuji 50FD seems to be getting most of the plaudits these days. My brother has one and it is so much more responsive and quick than my W20. And reviews say the image quality is pretty good.

The 100FD is due out v. soon and has a wider zoom range - 28-140 I think. I could even be tempted...

Oh well - Now I just need to wait to be thrown off the forum...
