Rechargeable batterty for Pentax K100D Super

I have just bought 2 brand new sets og GP 2700 NiMH rechargeable batteries for my newly bought K100D Super. After charging after shooting just about ten photoes they simply deplete. Menawhile they work perfectly in my old Fuji compact.

What batteries should use for my Pentax?

The current drain on the K100D Super is probably much higher than your old Fuji compact. Notwithstanding, and even though they're GP brand, a fully charged set of 2700's should last longer than 10 shots.

Were they fully charged when you put them in?

Sure, I have charged 'em fully (both sets).

With my istDL2, I used to get problems with rechargeable batteries. I then switched to Uniross Hybrio Rechargeable Batteries and have had no further problems.
Uniross Hybrio have low-drain technology and remain charged for months. They also come ready charged from new.

Any decent charger should work as long as it can handle
Ni-Mh batteries. It's worth buying a decent one if you
use a lot of batteries. This Panasonic one link should be OK.

Panasonic batteries are also good and 7Day stock them as well.

I use Uniross Hybrio rechargeable batteries in my Metz 58 flash and they last for dozens of flashes.

10 shots is very low, would get more than that from ordinary alkalines

Rechargeables need a good deep charge first few times, stick them on overnight then charge them again when they are fully depleted

Used Duracell 2650 NIMH for ages and always been ok apart from draining a bit fast when not in use

Took to using Energizer Lithiums lately, £6.85 for six in Superdrug.

Tantronics do a battery grip for the K100D/K100D about £68(Asnman) got one on Traceys camera approx' 1500 shots per charge.

Can you still get these? looked for one about a month ago and didn't have any luck finding it on their website

I have a number of cheapo chargers which charge 2 or 4 batteries at a time, and one slightly more expensive (and bigger and heavier) one which charges each battery separately (one to four at once), and will also go through a complete discharge/recharge cycle.

Every now and then I put my NiMH batteries through the whole cycle and it seems to keep them in reasonable condition.

The great advantage of individual charging is that if one battery is dud, you can see which one.

I now use mainly Panasonic Infiniums (same low discharge technology as Eneloops and Hybrios), and they are excellent. However, it is too early to say how long they last. Some of my NiMHs are over five years old and still going strong.

Well, I use Hama 2700 AA cells in my K100D Super. Life is several hundred shots - cannot be exact since I always rotate the two sets of cells before they run right down.
But I have one thought: what format are you saving in and to what memory card? Experience with a Bridge Model N***n was that Raw files took ages to save (almost a case of go away and have a coffee) and ate up the battery. Highest resolution JPEGs saved at once and did not drain the battery. The K100 saves Raw faster than the other brand, but I am still learning the best settings.

I can put in a recommendation for rechargeable CR-V3 batteries - you can pick up a pair (you only need two) and charger for £20. In all the time I had my K100d (before I dropped it into a rockpool :roll I only once even got the battery display to show half full.
