Really HD photography

OK have now seen the pic.

As it is at a Champions League game, photo passes will be issued by EUFA. The photo was taken from the press area of the stadium.

Have found this here which are the terms for the champions league final tickets but most likely will be the same for any european champions league final.

9.1 Any person attending the Match acknowledges that use may be made, free of

I've been practising making spherical panos using a K-5/10-17 fisheye @10mm

You need 6 horizontal portrait mode shots and 1 up shot and 1 down shot to complete the sphere. I remove the tripod and pano head from the down shot by taking another couple of shots from the same position hand held, and use PT Gui to stitch the lot together

To get a higher resolution like the stadium you'd need a telephoto lens and stitch more together. Easy in PTGui or similar.

The main thing is to rotate the camera/lens around the entrance pupil point of the lens to avoid parralax errors and thus stitching errors.

they are. with a full frame fisheye you only need 4 shots. APS-C fish eye like the 10-17 only 6

The page allows people to log in with their facebook account and thus gives the ability to tag themselves in the crowd. I assume that these tags follow facebooks privacy settings and only people who have allowed their tags to be public can be seen by the public.

I think it's pretty cool and no invasion of privacy at all




Gigpana is more for linear stitches I think, but could be wrong.

www.360cities.net is excellent for spherical panos and linked to google maps. Look up panos in your area

The Novoflex VR-System SLANT is at 60deg not 45 as I thought.
The idea is that a fisheye is used with a 180deg diagonal
view exactly vertical so that up and down shots aren't needed.

I extended the vertical arm and fitted a manfrotto QR platform to it, so I could whip the camera off for the down shot with that tripod.

You're always going to need a down shot if you want a full spherical. the shot off the bridge over the railway isn't full spherical. they've smeared out the tripod arm. - Mind you not easy to get a full 360 in that position.

Up shots are easy, simply tilt the pano head so the lens point vertically

You didn't read it correctly. I said that the picture would be fine, but the name-taging of people would not be.

From a technical point-of-view it is a fun idea, but nothing prevents you from taging 20 friends of yours afaik.
Also, there is a reason Fazebook's and Goggle's privacy policies are currently questioned under EU law.

But I am beginning to believe people have stopped questioning companies in power lately. They would probably allow them to turn on their webcameras and stream directly from the bedroom in a few years time.

Like, what the hell is up with the 'you are not allowed' to take pictures of the police in a public place anymore in the UK.

Tagging on Facebook comes under facebook terms and conditions which the user agrees to when signing up to Facebook, which can also be altered in e users personal settings. At the minute there is no law being broken by tagging someone into a Facebook photo, I believe again this can be changed under account privacy settings.

You are allowed to take photos of policeman here in the uk, photographing however for publication of police who are working unde cover on terrorist duties that could endanger police is obviously not allowed.

Unfortunately there are instances where press stories have reported where police have got these issues wrong and members if the public then perceive them to be laws.

Facebook lawyers are usually in the ball when it comes to complying with different countries privacy laws etc, it would be a fatal business mistake to not be...

Fun fact

They have a habit of seeking permission after introducing something in beta.

Some question it, while others accept whatever is written in their EULA just to be able to use the system.

Yes and according to that page facebook changed its tagging system back in August last year!

Myself I don't use facebook for other reasons, privacy issues was not one of them...

People can choose to review tags of themselves before publication if thay want, so it's not a problem



Not true. I've taken loads of pictures of the police, and they've seen me do it.
