I used to own a Z1p.
The Arperture Priority was what I normally used.
Using the fastest AP, then framing.

But my *ist-D seems to be AF constantly searching on th P or Green mode.

How can I get the suitable setting.
Also when I try shutter priority the shots sometimes are a little dull.

I think it's just getting used to it.

If I understand you correctly, it sounds like you have the focus switch set to AF.C, rather than AF.S (the switch is the same as the Z1, located by the side of the lens).

For the "dull" shots, check the metering mode you have selected. I find that it's too easy to accidentally knock the switch into spot metering by mistake (especially when bringing the camera out of a bag).

As you say, I think it is a case of getting used to the *ist-D

Matt is probably right about the focussing problem. Personally, I set the focus to the central point, focus on the subject, then frame while keeping the shutter button pressed halfway. I can find no use at all for the multiple focus points, but no doubt they are useful for some people.

As for dullness, you almost always need to apply some post-processing, even if your exposure is correct. I find I usually need to increase the gamma and contrast, sometimes the saturation, then sharpen.

Before you invest in Photoshop, try using Irfanview, which allows you to make these adjustments both to single pictures and in batches.

Irfanview is quick, simple and cheap - three things that Photoshop can't claim to be, though it's enormously powerful.
