Pentax Optio help needed

I have been using a Pentax Optio 330 with great success but now I find that I am having trouble when I try to upload the photos to my computer.

What USED to happen was, I plug the camera in to the USB cable, then turn it on..XP would beep to acknowledge that the camera was present.
I'd then get a menu box with various options:

1/ View photos from the camera
2/ Download the photos to a folder on your machine (!!! the one I want )
3/ Do nothing
4/ Open a folder to view the images

These are not exact quotes but the 2nd one is. Thats the one I can't get to function now for some reason.

I have d/ld and reinstalled the Pentax drivers about 10 times to no avail.
Now when I plug the camera in I don't even get the menu of choices, it automatically goes to a folder where the camera is the G: Drive!

Prior to this it worked fine, plug in the camera, select "Download the photos to a folder on my machine" and voila you were done! Now the blinking thing won't let me do anything but see a folder, all my choices are gone. Most recently I lost the choice to make a folder d/l my images, this is what prompted me to reinstall the drivers.

I also tried to use the System Restore but that didn't help. I am using the file called optioxp.exe as my driver file.

You would be better off all round if you get a card reader, these are not expensive and will save you loads of bother !!

Groan , well JoJo you are not alone re this head scratcher! Something similar happened with me and my S software. After much beating of chest and gnashing of teeth, I bought myself a USB card reader.

I bought mine (a multireader) thru the 'net and have had it for 8mths now w/o any problems. As mentioned, they are relatively inexpensive - shop around or try eBay.

This doesn't solve your problem, but I hope it helps!

OMG! it's not a camera problem u just have to learn how to use windows LOL

When you plug the camera in, click on My Computer and look in in the Window. A new drive should appear as you plug in the camera.

Click on this folder/drive and inside you will probably see one or more folders.

Have a look in these and you shoudl find your pictures which you can now drag and drop to the desktop or any other folder on your hard drive to be stored.

My Optio S40 is doing the same thing. When I first bought it, I would just plug it in to the USB cable and the download window and ACDSee app would come up. Now, nothing happens. Here's what I've done so far:
* Batteries are new
* Camera Detector is active
* USB cable plugged into USB 1 (attached directly to MB, tried other USB plugs as well)
* Camera does not appear as removable drive
* Tried both plugging in camera before turning it on and after to no avail.

Any ideas?
