Dunno if this helps, guys...

I can only imagine if this is what it refers to, it's a means for NASA to zoom in on images picked up from outerspace in order to obtain more detail on a heavenly body's composition - finding active volcanoes, storms, etc on distant planets, and the like.

Don't think a PSD file would be as big as that from a raw image... I could be wrong though!!

None of which answers the question, of course.
Basically, other than Mr Adobe, the Lord only knows what Adobe in their wisdom put in their PSD files.
Obviously, if you add layers, the saved PSD keeps them all, so it adds to the file size, but even so, PSDs aren't small. It's just the way things are, he said, helpfully. They must save it in a format that's convenient to the application - who knows what that is.

Well since the K-r doesn't generate PSD files, you're fine for now.Jeez!!.. I'll need to shift the porn off my hard drive to accomodate all those PSD files my Kr's about to load onto my pc then!!
Just don't open them and save them in PhotoShop unless you want to search for alternative video viewing pleasure...
... especially with the price of HDDs at the moment

I have two files, from my first go at raw.
The first is a DNG FILE 12.1MB this is the raw one the second file is PDS and is 36.7mb, apart from tweeking the balance on the raw i have done nothing else as yet. So why is the PDS FILE so big.
Regards
