Amateur Photographer has done a comparison between Nikon's D70 and Canon's 300D.

One difference is in the RAW file sizes. The Nikon can get approx. 100 RAW files on a 512MB card, whilst the Canon gets approx. 70 images.

How come my *ist D can only get about 34 RAW files on a 512MB card? All three cameras have 6 megapixel sensors so why the vast difference in RAW file sizes?

Pentax's raw files are not compressed whereas Canon and Nikon compress theirs.
