1. I don't believe there is much of a difference but in camera the more standard tools are more at hand. also I don't believe that you can change the white balance and such in photoshop (elements).
I try to get the most nateural photo with camera raw and do the sharpening and more creative things in photoshop.
2. there is a diffrence, watch the historigram in the top right and you see it. Simply get the one what you think is the best, sometimes the other is better for portrait and others for landscape. I've it most of the time set on Adobe standard.

1. I have recently purchased Elements 7 and upgraded Camera RAW to version 5.3. So all up to date. My DNG file loads into camera RAW and I am presented with the option of editing straight away or I can open and go straight into Elements. So - which is better - editing in Camera RAW or in Elements? (or both?).
2.In Camera RAW I can Calibrate my Camera - the default setting is ACR 4,4. There are options for Embedded, ACR 3,7 and Pentax 1.0. Switching from one to the other does not seem to make any difference to the photo. So should I leave this setting on ACR 4,4 or use any of the other settings - and what do they mean?
Cheers
John
