I haven't seen anything from today's flypast, so here is the Lancaster getting airborne from RAF Waddington this lunchtime

A good clear capture, and the sky is well controlled with good contrast across the plane. I'm just reading Anthony Beaver's WWII book, up to the section about Bomber Command during 1943, so a topical image. A very traumatic experience, being in one of those glass canopies over Europe at the time.

History for me too. It's exactly 35 years ago when I had my first (and last) flight in that Lancaster. I was able to experience occupying all of the positions, including the tail gunners: Once that bubble is rotated you feel as if sitting on thin air. I cannot imagine being shot at too.

Lovely to see it in the air. We missed it at St Athan as she was grounded in Liverpool.
