Question re Focal Length

While looking at the main Pentax Photo Gallery, I noticed the exif data on one foto for the 16-45mm lens as focal length = 68mm. As I understand it, focal length is the distance from the shutter to the optical centre at front of lens. I thought that in a 16-45, 45mm would be longest focal length. Would welcome any views.

Are you looking at the 35mm equivalent?

Thanks George, think that's probably the answer, assuming a crop factor of 1.5 (ie K10D) which I had forgotten about, then that would make up to 68mm in 35mm equivalent.
