Q10 or MX1?

The the X20 compared to the MX-1 is taller but shorter.
I agree about the optical viewfinder when using the lens at it's long end so I tend to use the EVF which does have some lag to it. But I don't pan much, so it's not a real problem for me.
As you say John each to his own

Agree about differing requirements.
However, the 'flippy' screen has got me some lovely shots and angles that are just downright impossible on anything else.
Bright light can be challenging at times, but never enough to stop me getting what I want! I usually wear an Australian-style hat in bright sun and make use of this as a screen shade (as well as keeping my head out of the sun!)
Have also equipped my MX-1 with an anti-glare screen protector which does make a big difference to irritating reflected light

Given the choice I'd love the MX-1 to have a viewfinder even a relatively poor one like that on the Fuji X10. The addition of the tilting screen does make the MX-1 larger than it should be and uglier too, as it's so clumsily installed, almost as an after-thought, but I have to say, I use it a lot, particularly for low-angle shots.
Luckily the exposure and focusing are so reliable I can take shots without being able to see them properly, and just trust that the camera has got things right.

Best wishes,

Luckily you don't get much of that in the UK then But it's not much use in sunlight
Here, in Australia the sun is harsh but I find the MX-1 better than the K-01.
If the sun is in front of me, I hold the camera at waist level and tilt the screen up.
If the sun is behind me I hold the camera higher and tilt the screen down.

Thanks for that. It's good to know there are ways round it.
Hang on I've just thought, one way round it ..... a viewfinder
ps we do get sun in the UK sometimes

I don't find the lack of a viewfinder a problem, in bright Sun light you have to shade the screen as John suggested but 95% of the time there is no issue.

The movable screen allows you to get some very interesting low down prospective shots.

Not been to the UK for a while Steve? Wall to wall sunshine June and July in the S.E and 30+ some days . I hate to mention cricket in an Australian's company at the moment but unbelievably we haven't lost any time to rain in two series so far!

Wow! Yes, I'm sure that's a delightful change after 10 months of grey skies..

With direct vision, using a telephoto lens means a dreadfully small viewfinder crop and it's IMHO pretty useless. I am aware that there are hybrid viewfinders, but there are some lens limitations to their use as well.
The MX-1 also has an articulated screen, which was badly wanted by some at the time, but this too adds bulk. It is sometimes useful, but overall I think I'd prefer a smaller camera.
I think it just proves that different people have different requirements and no choices are right or wrong per se.
