I found this fantastic clematis in the garden where we were staying, so shot in both on the K-5 and the Q-S1. This is the version from the Q-S1 with the 15-45mm telephoto zoom.
Best regards, John

Lovely detail here John, and you've got the exposure spot on, nice composition as well.
Didn't you once have the original Q? if so how does the S1 compare?

PS; I've got the 15-45mm waiting for me in UK when I return next week, if this is the quality it can produce I'll be very happy

PPS; What focal length was this taken at?
Regards,
Michael

Gorgeous colour and detail. These little cameras encourage you to try close-ups, I find.
Best wishes,

Andrew

It was shot at 35mm and ISO 400.

The original Q is capable of very nice quality, but the Q-S1 is better, on a par with the excellent MX-1. Both the Q-S1 and MX-1 have the slightly larger sensor, and as compact cameras this small difference does make a visible difference in quality.

Thanks John,
I just couldn't bring myself to get rid of the original Q though...it's such a classic.......especially in WHITE

That's a cracking shot John..the detail is superb. I'm not really up on these little compacts regarding the sensor sizes and apparent magnifications but what does that 15-45 lens equate to in 35mm terms?

My Canon compact is starting to show signs of wear...i'll definitely look at these newer Pentax compacts when the time comes.

On the Q and Q10 it's equivalent to 82.5 - 247.5mm

On the Q7 and Q-S1 it's more like 75 - 225mm

I must try it with the 150-450mm lens sometime!

Thanks for that John...quite tempting possibilities...opens up all sorts of new avenues to explore. Why should the high zoom Bridge Camera brigade have all the fun!

Me neither - I've got a white one for a walk around and a black one for use with my DA*300 set up.

Fabulous. I can fully understand your embarrassment at not wanting to publish the K-5 one I have taken some shots of the same thing with my Q and my K3 then looked and thought - is the K3 one really better?!

I think the Q's are very underrated........except by people who own one

Excellent John,

My son Adam will be interested as he loves his MX-1 but has been disappointed with his original Q
