Q diary

Are you familiar with this blog dedicated to the Q: pentaxqdiary? I think it is quite interesting. The author have a pretty good eye for composition and the result is a portfolio that is both varied and consistent.

The Q never was and never will be my dream camera. I think it is a concept born too long ago - if it was launched 2 years ago it would have been more relevant, now the competition in the small but serious-category is too stiff.

But it is nice seeing it put to use in a all too rare context of photography (rather than tech babble). I doubt I will ever get to try it, even though I would love to.

It's a good blog, with great images.

Interesting article in the Feb edition of the "Advanced Photographer" magazine (something I bought on the spur of the moment)

They did a group test of the Fuji X10, Pentax Q and the Ricoh GXR with the A12 module.

In the end the Fuji won (no surprise - it is the "Pro" compact of the moment) the Ricoh third, but the Pentax Q was second. They loved the IQ, and the build, as well as the ergonomics.
However they did put that the Q had a 2/3" sensor!!!!
I wonder if they realised that it only has the 1/2.3" sensor, and if they did'nt, would it get more points as a result.

Still, It was a good honest review that ignored the sensor size and showed what the Q is, which is an excellent small CSC camera with a mighty IQ.

I am getting more tempted into getting one by the day.
