Pentax Q RAW vs JPEG

I bought the twin lens kit a couple of weeks ago and am still undecided with the Q

It is fabulous to use and size is excellent, especially given the control it offers.

I am struggling with the RAW files in Capture One and, too me, the cameras jpeg engine seems to do a better job than I can in Capture One. I always prefer to shoot RAW as, usually, it gives ultimately better IQ but I am struggling here.


Do you guys shoot RAW and, if so, what do you use to process the images. Alternatively is there anyone who uses out of camera JPEG's?

I use either Silkypix or Lightroom- depending on what I want to accomplish.
I'm interested in the Q - if you want email the Raw file I'll see what works best

I think the RAW files will be too big to email

I've just imported them into LR and for once they look MUCH better than the Capture One version. The JPEG's are great but I do like to shoot RAW as much as possible so maybe I need to use another workflow with the Q files

LR3 is really very good, though I do find that Silkypix is excellent too. In general I use LR3 for 'considered' RAW, like landscapes, and Silkypix where I need to rattle through a lot of shots and don't need ND grad filters (that LR3 can do), or worry too much about lens correction etc.

I have email that can handle large files, or can arrange for DropBox etc.
sprend.com is a good 'one time' service for files up to 2Gb
If you have anything to share, I'd love to see some serious RAW files from the Q (though I'm sure that won't help my bank balance :lol
