If you read the Terms of Use, plus the explanatory notes at the top of some forums, then most questions should be clarified.
Anything else, just drop us a PM and we'll answer specific queries.
It's mostly a question of common sense.

In fact at the other pentax forum there's no such rigid strictness on "other brands" even in the main forums when comparing to Pentax and the sky hasn't fallen in.
I still say the best solution to have an "other brand" subforum
Yes on another Pentax forum I am on there is no such rigidity.but if there was a "other brand" sub-forum, there wouldn't be a problem with people giving such examples. it works well here ...

Unless the forum is financed directly by Pentax or some such I don't understand the "closed shop" atmosphere that prevails on here. Yes of course on a forum for a certain brand you should expect it will be focussed on a certain brand but that talk of any other brand is almost 100% strictly verbotten just seems unnecessary and a bit ...well anal to be honest.
We are all photographers first and foremost - just happens we all use Pentax kit - some exclusively, others along side another or several marques.

No, it hasn't. It's been removed for looking at, as it was subject to a lot of abuse and trolling.

I thought deletion of threads and posts without explanation was a thing of the past, I thought the forum was starting to become normal again? Quiet yes, but back to normal.
Also John what is trolling, a word or phrase I am not aware of?
And one last thing can I talk about and post photos taken with a Sony A7 used with Pentax lenses, having invested in this camera this month complete with a Pentax adaptor.

Trolling and Flaming are two internet forum problems that are well defined on Wikipedia. They are forms of posting abuse.

I didn't see much trolling or flaming in that thread just an honest discussion. And here we are again....

Ok thanks I looked it up and am still confused as nothing on this thread related to the explanations given on Wikipedia.

STRIKING SIMILARITY

Mr Gradgrind

Mr Riley
At the risk of diverting the thread, I thought readers might be interested in the strong similarity between these two figures: John Riley of Pentax User and Thomas Gradgrind from Dickens' novel Hard Times. Both are from a northern English town, too; but I'm pleased to say that there the similarities end (as far as I know), for one is inflexible and authoritarian, while the other.... cont. p.94

If the status quo continues, threads such as this one will continually keep on emerging with monotonous regularity.
However, there is wisdom here...

In regards to the "brand" issue being discussed here, the solution for a well designed forum is to have an off topic sub-forum, or an "other Brand" sub-forum. This keeps the off topic stuff away from the main topic of the forum and serves to maintain the bond of the community without people having to go elsewhere and talk to strangers for the odd off topic stuff.
Those running these forums should demonstrate wisdom by implementing such a solution forthwith. In regards to the "brand" issue being discussed here, the solution for a well designed forum is to have an off topic sub-forum, or an "other Brand" sub-forum. Just remember Pentax or Pentax related or of interest to and usable by Pentax users. Ain't difficult until someone tries to have fun bucking the system, then we get grief.
A potential location/event,
A unusual or advanced technique if suitable for use with Pentax cameras,
Comparisons between Pentax & other systems,
Alternative lighting/storage etc. options...
Even if the photos are taken with a third party camera.
I've always thought the moderation here has pretty much ignored this part of the rules. Certainly in any of those situations more than a handfull of non Pentax images would not be approriate.
