Problem switching on Optio RS 430

I'm having problems with my new Pentax Optio 430RS. It just won't turn on! I've charged the battery, green light comes on the charger, insert battery correct way, but nothing when switching on the camera.

If someone can give me a help, I would be really appreciated.

I am having the same problem with my Pentax. The battery is fully charged, but when I try to power up my camera, the green light flickers, and nothing happens. I do this a few times and then finally the camera goes on...and eventually turns off suddenly while I shoot pictures. Does anybody know what the problem is?

I had a similar problem with my Optio 430RS. It has happened 3 times now. In my case: I turn it on, the lens extends itself almost completely, but then a disgusting noise is made and it turns itself off again. (I can turn it on with a USB cable in it and it works in "photo download" mode.)

The first time (11 months old), it was under warranty.
The second time (1.5 year old), my friend suggested holding in the battery cover as I turned it on. This worked.
The third time (now it is 2 years old) even pushing the battery cover in doesn't help.
