Watch out for pickpockets and petty thieves - just be sensible about what gear you go out with.
Must do - U Medviku and U Fleku for beers
Prague Castle is good, Charles Bridge when it's QUIET (which isn't often)

Before you enter a taxi, ask the price
Buy tickets for the trams (undercover fare checkers).
Other than that, what I can remember, it was all good.

Lurking is shirking.!

People are generally friendly, but you should avoid unpopulated places. There are a lot of 'non-EU' immigrants hanging around who may be living rough and have no income. I'm not implying that makes people bad, but you can accidentally wander into areas where you may feel uncomfortable.
But there are some fabulous places to photograph. My recommendation is walk up (or take the cable car) hill in the Letenské sady (which is a large park with a tower at the top) you get some great views of the city.
There is a restaurant and a café at the top.
But if you want the classic shot of the Charles Bridge then you will need to be up very early or very late. It is utterly mobbed with people and you really need to have your wits about you as it is the place for pickpockets.

Hi Larry
As others have said - you need to play safe - but no more than other major cities and it is not nearly as bad as some!
Other than the obvious Charles bridge, jewish quarter (my tip - shoot there at night) old town and castle - take a river trip - some interesting buildings along the way and you can get some nice angles on the bridges without having to wade through the crowds. Also - you can get some excellemt street candids on an evening if you eat at one of the (very good) open air restaurants near the clock tower in the old market square.
Also on the castle side of charles bridge (which is where most of the boat trips run ftom) you can hire an old convertible car taxi for a sight seeing trip at quite a reasonable price - great for photographrs as no car roof to get in the way!
If you are going for 3 days - take a one hour train journey out to Karlstejn castle - well worth a visit for a few hours - or Kutna Horanot - the medieval silver mining town - very interestibg and photogenic
Lots to do and see Larry - just avoid the stag and hen crowds - especially the Brits!
Oh and if you intend getting a taxi from the airport to the city - prebook it or arrange it through your hotel - the cowboy cabs will rob you blind and charge you at least double what it should be
Have fun Larry - a great city - and great people - just take the usual precautions
Carl

I was there for a few days in 2009 (my son married his czeck partner, and yes I did the wedding photos).
Agree with pretty much all the above, except I can't comment on the strip bar!
It's quite compact so you can cover the city centre on foot easily. The tourist traps are pretty crowded during the day, but the crowds dwindle rapidly in the evening, and, in June, I was blessed with some good light.
There's an interesting mix of features and buildings from different eras - pre-communist, communist and post communist, if I could term it as such.
Enjoy and take lots of shots.

I had zero problems when I was there a few years ago.
Remember to look up! Intereseting signs, old lamps and details on buildings.
