Excellent work Tim and well done indeed on getting 100 in the PPG - I also really like the Green Stem from this latest batch.

Thanks folks!

Gareth the green stem shot is the stem of a bamboo (the leaf starts just beyond the top right corner), and the lighting was quite sophisticated! From memory it was lit from beneath by an open-topped uplighter lamp in my living room, the lamp has a 11w homebase 'energy saver' spiral fluorescent bulb in it, and the background is a green velvet cushion from the sofa. All shot with my Tamron 90mm

PS Gareth as far as I know the only PPG-style site where the camera brand doesn't matter is 1x.com.

Well, I still have not reached the PPG century, but I was lucky in getting my 'Dead Man's beach' shot published at 1x.com.

I guess the second one will be much harder...

Hey that is fantastic news Ralf! You'll have to remind me, is Dead Man's Beach the ferris wheel long exposure?

Ahh that one, I remember it well Ralf (except the name, obviously ).

Thanks Mike! I still feel a bit weird about passing people like you and Ralf, both of you produce images that are in my opinion much closer to 'perfection' than any of mine are. I'm specifically thinking about technical perfection e.g. exposure, colour, sharpness, and general zing/pop/punchiness. I know some people don't think these attributes are especially important, but I'm not one of them

Thanks.

I rarely put anything up for consideration now. I was having a little contest with Amin but when he sold his Pentax gear that all went out the window and I sort of lost interest.

Maybe I should push it a bit harder to get my century

Yes, the grass always looks greener on the other side. I could have said absolutely the same thing of my shots compared to yours...
I guess when we would be 100% happy with our shots we might start producing worse pictures.

Mike, you should get pushing, especially as the century is not far for you.

Trouble is you can get stuck in a rut so to speak.
I could churn out macro after macro and because that is my sort of photography (and notice the voters seem to like it) I know there is a good chance it will get in .. but there is no challenge in that.

Sometimes I just like to try something different but know full well it isn't going to cut it on the PPG.

I'm a PPG virgin because I never got round to submitting anything, I can't face the prospect of rejection.
But I have nothing but admiration for the work of you guys who get regular acceptances. Tim, congrats on your first century.

I blow hot and cold about the PPG partly because they always seem to reject my favourite images but accept ones I only just take a second look at. I must have odd tastes.

Congratulations Tim on your 100 (I have only just made 19!) and congrats Ralf on getting into 1x.com.

The one thing that does please me is how many of my PPG images were shot on film with 40 year old kit, especially the 3 from one roll of film taken one afternoon in Central Park.

Good luck on making 200, I shall concentrate on making 20...
