Post Processing Challenge #3 - Walking

Hi All,

I dont usually shoot in RAW, but last Saturday a friend of mine asked me to get some shots of her and her friends walking around in her new range of shoes. The weather was pretty rubbish and between the showers I managed to grab some usable shots, so I would be really interested to see what you all come up with from one of them

I may have done something wrong, but am I right in thinking the jpeg and pef images are different?

Ok i will start it off

tried to get a picture of me in the middle but failed
so done a crop and altered levels and contrast in layers
and a bit in colour curves.
gave up on the pef version could'nt get it to load properly

Had no luck with the PEF image either, so used the jpeg:





Cropped, cloned out the car, some Gaussian Blur on a seperate layer for the legs, then a curves adjustment on everything except the legs.

Cropped, bright background toned down to grey, added colour boost, contrast and run through Topaz 4.

Off on my hols next week so just for fun.

Wouldn't it make more sense to be using the same picture in jpeg and PEF? As it is they are very different making it hard to compare peoples treatment of them. Just mvho of course.

Yes the JPEGs and the PEF are supposed to be the same.
Sorry Mike I need to change the PEF file.

never known there is such interesting threads. i think i should resist going to the 'classified adverts'

Yes, I had already deleted the PEF as it was the wrong file and I unfortunately I cant find the corresponding one for the JPEG. It was on a card that I had formatted and subsequently re-used and I havent been able to recover the files from the card with recovery software.

I apologise to all, I hope it has detracted from the competition.

As the shoes are the focal point this is my version;

Cloned out unwanted items, moved third set of legs over, selected the shoes only, inverted selection then applied a caussian blur to the background.

Auto colour adjustment and cropped.

Thanks to all who have entered, I was suprised at the low numbers but I guess its my own fault for not having the right RAW file up at the begining.

So on to the results and in keeping with the style of the comp I will keep my comments brief.

A nice crop with good adjustments but I felt the skin tone was a little too saturated.

I liked the tigh crop and cloning out of the car, which really kept the focus on the shoes

Not a great picture to start with but good processing and reducing the highlights but again a it looked a little over saturated to me

Brightstone
Liked the fact that you moved in the third person and added the vignette only negative being the vignette coverd the shoes a bit and drew the eye to the white wall.

Good idea and concept definately drew focus to the shoes but didn't work for me, maybe a thin line of focus on the road would've helped it.
