Wow! I love pool shots. Didn't David Hockney paint a series once a few years ago? This is minimalist and very nicely captured. Perfect composition. You can't have known it was going to happen. My guess is that, despite the colour, it would actually make a strong mono conversion.
Best wishes,

Andrew

I've been thinking about this one - I love it and wish I'd done it .

What do I like about it in specific terms - the man walking head down concentrating on the job in hand , the ripples underfoot. Then I look at the sea outside - wow and the shimmers of colours there really grab my attention - they are wonderful.

It's a beautiful shot

Very well done It's a strong graphic shot, like it rather a lot My only possible suggestion would be using PS's warp tool on the left half of the image to make the wall perfectly symmetrical. But it would b a pain, and very possibly not worth the effort.

PS warp is a bit beyond me at present. This is straight out of the camera Jpeg.

Andrew, I was perched on a wall looking down and saw the chap doing some maintenance. Luckily I had time to stick a new card in and put the camera in continuous. I eventually saw the angle which took out the surrounding structures and he walked back across the frame. I had time to focus too, manual 58mm Nokton.

Right place, right time and lucky shot. Fortunately I was shooting raw too. So fun to be had tweaking.

Anyway its taught me that there is a lot to think about in a few short seconds and I have even more respect for people who do this for a living. Unless they just stick in the biggest fastest memory cards and shoot away.

Nokton 58mm, f5.6 1/500s ISO100.

It was a lovely morning.

Soooooo now I have to find out how to get this printed A3 just to satisfy my curiosity.

I guess I'm going to have to work hard to get more of these.

Good shot... shows that less is more sometimes. I agree with Tim re skewing the shot to get perfect symmetry. I think this sort of shot works better when the composition is anally-retentively spot on.

Creative shot improving the symmetry would really take it to the next level. Personally I think it is the colour that makes it, but I would like to see a mono for comparison.

Ha ha, a-skewing we will go. You're a difficult bunch. PS is on my list of stuff to learn and use more.

I was just happy it was in focus. I've had a quick play with mono but its bedtime.

OK needs more tweaks but I prefer the colour.
I've skewed it too. (new trick thanks).

I thought I'd prefer this in B+W, but after seeing it I prefer the colour version.

Yup, coluor for me too. Well done on the skewing I think that's a noticeable improvement.

The colour I think is a strength and reinforces the feel of the image. The figure is classically placed on a "third", moving into the image and having space to move into. This makes it peaceful and balanced and the subject appears in harmony with his situation.

No major change needs to be done, and experimenting with the cropping I settled for just a whisker off the top to change the balance very, very slightly.

It's a nice shot just as it is though.
Best regards, John

Doug, I really like this shot.

Firstly I definitely prefer the colour version. The colours are so vibrant in the original that I miss them in the B&W version.

I love the simple composition, the wall bisecting the two areas of water, and the position of the man (rule of thirds). It is very appealing to my eyes.

Great effort.
If you can't say something nice about Pentax, you won't say anything at all.

Apparently.

Yes I was wrong about the conversion. I guess I miss the vibrancy of the colour and the shot is so compositionally simple its colour is not a distraction. Always worth trying, though.
Best wishes,

Andrew

Couldn't agree more.
