The lens is very new, only a couple of months old.

I voted yes.
Most people who actually own the DA18-135 seem to like it. Those who do not tend to be heavily influenced by the photozone review which gave it a very low score because of softness at the borders and vignetting.
My copy is very sharp in the centre of the image which is where the main interest of the picture usually lies in photos of people, children, animals, flowers etc. The weight, size, rapid accurate silent focus and useful range make it a delightful lens in day to day use. Some of its deficiencies can be corrected by software either in camera or pp.
The main drawback is the high price in UK. I got mine from Adorama and even after paying tax and shipping it was still substantially cheaper than buying locally.

but that could mean little once the image is on your computer and in a gallery and only the IQ is being judged.
