Polarizing lens

Hi, just a quick question. I'm heading to glencoe today and I have a 0.45x wide angle extension lens (it was cheap but has surprisingly good results), it's attached in conjunction with a macro lens, I need to know where I should be attaching the polarising filter, on to the main lens or the attached lens?

I wouldn't bother with the polariser at all, you're likely to get dreadful vigetting and with ultra-wide lenses streaking in blue skies.

That is, if you can find any blue skies today!
Best regards, John

That's true glencoe is notorious for being dull and dreary even when everywhere else is sunny. Thanks for the advice I'll put it back in its wee case for now.

Well. Talk preparing for all eventualities. Stopped at Glencoe set up the tripod and then I was bursting for the toilet. Seriously bursting. Couldn't concentrate on anything. Grabbed a few shots but I'll need to go back tomorrow on the way home.

You will need to attach a polarizer where you can rotate it, to get the best polarizing effect. This is usually on the end of the outside lens element. However, as you are stacking a wide angle converter onto your lens, another device such as a polariser may well cause vignetting.
Friendly Regards
Graham
